Last night, we headed along to the opening of H&M‘s first Australian store in Melbourne at Melbourne’s GPO. The VIP launch hosted over 1000 guests, made up of local and international celebrities, media and key fashion influencers. Famous faces spotted on the red carpet included Lindy and Michael Klim, Jodan and Zak Stenmark, Liz Cambridge, Miss Australia Erin Holland and Nick Giannopoulos.
The event was held inside the newly revamped 5000 square metre GPO building over three exciting levels of fashion, accessories and homewares. The refurbishment of Melbourne’s GPO is one of H&M’s largest concept stores globally with H&M embracing and restoring the heritage building to create a highly unique and bespoke retail experience.
H&M’s first Australian store in Melbourne
For those of you keen to get your shop on at the long awaited Australian store, H&M Melbourne will officially open at 10am tomorrow morning. Crowds are expected to line the streets and create a party atmosphere of their own. If you’re a huge fan, you’ll also be excited to know that gift bags will be given to those waiting in line while entertainment and refreshments begin from 6am.
To celebrate H&M Melbourne’s arrival, a specially designed ‘Australia Exclusive Collection’ has also been launched. The limited edition capsule collection will only be available at the new Australian flagship store here in Melbourne – you can check out my favourite pieces from the collection on Melbourne Girl here.
Be sure to head in and check out the amazing (HUGE) new store!
The General Post Office (Melbourne’s GPO Building) is situated on the corner of Elizabeth and Bourke Streets in Melbourne. It is historically significant as one of the foremost public buildings in Victoria, both architecturally and as the centre of postal communications for the Colony of the state (see more on Wikipedia).
The building is listed in our blog post – Top 9 Hidden Secrets in Melbourne – because inside and out, the combination of the crisp whiteness, and the original Victorian-era features, make it a visual feast for the eyes.
