Summer in Melbourne rocks and there’s no better time to head along to the Queen Victoria Market for their Summer Night Market on Wednesday evenings.
If you love paella, pavlova, Pimms, pretty lights and party vibes, than this is the market for you. OK, well there is sooooo much more on offer… so read on!
A warning, the Summer Night Market will no doubt become your weekly Wednesday ritual if you live near the city. Now in it’s 19th year, the Market features delicious global street food, curated bars, artisan stall holders and quirky activations.
There are three live music stages to be found around the historic Market sheds, as well as roving entertainers, buzzing alley communal dining areas and all the atmosphere of a summer festival.
It’s made it on our Melbourne Best Eats list for 2017 and so many of our local favourites are on board including the teams from Wonder Bao, Southside Smokers, Simply Spanish, American Doughnut Kitchen and That Aranchini Guy.
Shopping lovers can indulge in some serious retail therapy as well.
Our favourite stalls include Melbourne hat designers Will & Bear; the Hair & Halo Bar run by the babes at Bambi & Sammi; and the range of organic beauty, body and cooking products made by Coconut Revolution.
For visitors to Melbourne, you’ll find Queen Victoria Market on the corner of Queen and Therry Streets in the city. It’s the largest open air market in the Southern Hemisphere, at around seven hectares in size, so it will be very easy to find if you jump on a tram and head to a night session.
The Summer Night Market runs every Wednesday (5pm – 10pm) so be sure to check it out.
