This weekend, the Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival kicks into full swing with the Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield racecourse and it’s the perfect excuse to get dressed up with friends and family and head trackside for some fun in the sun.
Traditionally not as high profile as the spring extravaganza, autumn racing is more relaxed affair than it’s seasonal sister event, but it’s still stylishly on point.
The carnival is an eight week extravaganza across Melbourne, with not only Caulfield playing host to feature racedays. Flemington will host two major events next month – the Australian Guineas followed by the Australian Cup (also known as Super Saturday), with the carnival wrapping up with William Reid Stakes Day, taking place in late March at Moonee Valley racecourse.
WHAT TO WEAR
to Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival
1. Rent a designer dress from Glamcorner
My favourite online dress hire destination houses a collection of over 1,500 designer dresses. They deliver anywhere in Australia and have just introduced the great new Afterpay system. So not only can you rent and wear a designer dress for a fraction of the retail price, you can get the outfit right away and pay for it later, interest-free! Stawwwwwp it, I knowwwww! So good!
Glamcorner have you sorted for autumn carnival, with a collection of dresses which are perfect for the new season and are just the right amount of on-point for the races. You can also rent gorgeous designer accessories, like clutches and jewellery to complete your look. Luxury fashion has never been so accessible.
2. Headwear is not essential
The autumn carnival (whilst remaining tasteful) is not super-dooper formal. Take a relaxed approach by leaving your headwear at home. Or if you’d just like a little something to jazz up your look, try a simple veil, straw boat hat or metal headband.
3. New Season Footwear
Our favourite new season styles for autumn include sock ankle boots and toe-cap heels. Both styles were huge on the New York and London fashion week fall runways.
4. Be yourself
To achieve the perfect autumn racing vibe, think stylish chic! It’s easy to work a rental dress with your current wardrobe favourites or some fresh new accessory buys with some on-trend heels for a fashionable day out.
My best advice is to wear your own individuality. Don’t be afraid to be yourself, so you can enjoy the ultimate day out.
