Earlier this month, I was invited along to the Melbourne Fashion Festival International Women’s Day breakfast forum. It had a powerful message – Empowered Women Empower Women.
Held in the events space at Melbourne Museum, I walked away feeling incredibly inspired and also very lucky to be a woman in today’s society. There are some seriously talented females in our country, kicking some serious #GirlBoss butt, and each of us are forging our own unique journey’s, including breaking down the gender stereotypes of old.
International Women’s Day in Melbourne
The breakfast was a morning presentation hosted by Yumi Stynes and featuring a panel of dynamic Australian speakers – Dr Susan Carland (Academic, Author, and social commentator), Laura Enever (World Champion Surfer and Mimco Ambassador), Michelle Huntington (Virgin Australia Pilot), and Sarah Wilson (Author and TV Presenter).
As a guest of Mimco and in conjunction with the launch of their second annual Our Watch capsule collection, it was wonderful to hear from their ambassador Laura Enever, and her praise for growing up in environment where the waves are home to all surfers (be they male or female) and how honoured she is to be the face of such a great cause.
I have been fortunate enough to enjoy great success in what has traditionally been a male dominated sport. On a societal level, sport provides role models to promote the importance of equality across all aspects of life and I hope my journey encourages more young girls out there, to get involved and be part of the change ~ Laura Enever

A huge thank you to the team at Mimco for inviting me along and kudos for another wonderful Our Watch collection! It’s such a wonderful cause xx
