Recently our hungry stomachs and caffeine addiction lead us to the gorgeous cafe, The Faculty Hawthorn. Located on Barkers Road, The Faculty is a a favourite amongst it’s locals with a gorgeous, minimalistic interior of wood furnishings and light colours.
Here at Melbourne Girl, we’re always on the hunt for awesome new cafes because catch ups over coffee and food are the best (as are catch ups over wine and vodka… but I digress).
A backroom space with an ‘ol so Melbourne graffiti wall makes the interior of the venue memorable and very trendy (also perfect for a picture).
With coffee by Four Rascals, there’s an item on the menu that is certain to please every palette and because we were hungry, we decided on three dishes (shared between two people because sharing is caring and those who eat together get fat together).
The Bircher Muesli served with poached pear, stewed rhubarb, shaved coconut, pepitas, almond flakes and currents is the BEST bircher I’ve eaten in Melbourne (#truestory). It’s light, fresh, fruity but not overly sweet and when you finish it you’re not left feeling like there’s a brick in your stomach… so delicious!
The zuchinni and corn fritters with housemade beetroot tzatziki, pickled baby radish and two poached eggs is GENIUS. Beetroot tzatziki should be on all meals and it’s addition to this dish is fantastic. The fritters aren’t dense and their crisp outers have the perfect crunch.
As for the Andalusion baked eggs… OH EM GEE. Slow cooked to perfection with peppers, pork sausage and a trio of baked beans this dish comes served with toast and JUST DIG IN BECAUSE IT’S FOOD AT IT’S BEST.
