What to do in Melbourne this May
Take a road trip to one of the High Country Harvest festival events
We are so excited to be heading to this year’s High Country Harvest Festival. There are more than 50 gorgeous events planned over the three weeks this May. Plan your escape to Victoria’s picturesque North East and celebrate the region’s bounty and the talented folk who grow it, make it and bring it to the table.

Wizard of Oz – The Musical
The Wizard of Oz is an enchanting revision of the all-time classic MGM screenplay, with all your favourite characters and iconic moments from the movie, plus a few surprises along the way, including some wonderful new songs by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber. The Melbourne production stars Anthony Warlow, Lucy Durack and Jemma Rix.
The Wizard of Oz opens at Melbourne’s Regent Theatre on 12 May (which will make for a lovely Mother’s Day gift) and is only running for a strictly limited season, so book early!

Head along to a game of AFL
Melbourne is well known around the globe as being the ‘sporting capital’ of Australia. Across the country (and particularly in Victoria), there’s no more famous game, than Australian Rules Football (AFL). You can catch a match throughout the season (which runs from April-September) at either the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) or at Etihad Stadium.
The Melbourne Football Club is the world’s oldest professional club of any football code. Nicknamed by their fans as the ‘Demons’ or the ‘Dees’, the team are lining up for four big matches this month and I can assure you, you’ll love the experience of game day. Footy has an electric atmosphere and I’d highly recommend you book yourself a ticket for a great afternoon out with friends. Whether you’re a sports nut (like me), or not really a sports fan at all, you can expect to be kept highly entertained, in true Melbournian style!

The changing face of Victoria
The changing face of Victoria is a free exhibition at the State Library of Victoria, which tells the stories of the people, places and events that have shaped Victoria.
The exhibition features Ned Kelly’s armour (amazing!) and explores all aspects of daily life in our state throughout the 20th and 21st centuries.

Explore Port Melbourne
For many people visiting Melbourne, their first port of call is the beautiful coastal suburb of Port Melbourne. Tea with Jam and Clare
In March, I was invited along to Melbourne Town Hall, to join girl bosses Jamila Rizvi and Clare Bowditch for an awesome evening, celebrating the themes of creativity and courage, at their inaugural Tea with Jam and Clare event.
Their next event has been confirmed for May, and their special guest will be comedian and best-selling author, Rosie Waterland. This is going to be a very special afternoon of honest conversation and uplifting song – exploring themes of mental health, self-care and finding light in the dark.

Beautiful the Musical
Long before she was Carole King, chart-topping music legend, she was an ordinary girl with extraordinary talent. Her music would become the soundtrack to a generation.
Beautiful has opened at Her Majesty’s Theatre and is the inspiring true story of King’s journey from school girl to superstar; from her relationship with husband and song-writing partner Gerry Goffin, their close friendship and playful rivalry with fellow song-writing duo Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, to her remarkable rise to stardom.
Along the way, she became one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history, with countless classics such as (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, I Feel The Earth Move, Take Good Care of My Baby, You’ve Got a Friend, So Far Away, One Fine Day, It’s Too Late, Tapestry and Locomotion.
